Late Night Canada: Shoppers Buys Boots and Quebec Pretends to Want to Leave

Canada’s Favourite Fake Late Night Show

Well...

The Weston family are buying UK drugstore chain Boots for around $12 billion.

The Westons, of course, already own Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, and other retail giants here in Canada.

And now they’re hoping to bring that same level of consumer distrust to ol’ Blighty.

Of course, Boots is an iconic brand in the UK, but the Weston family may want to add their own spin on the brand by renaming it with a nod to its new Canadian ownership while still paying respect to its British roots.

Some suggested names include...

Shoppers Bruv Mart

and

Punters Drugs Innit

No word on whether PC products will make an appearance, but I can’t see President’s Choice Decadent Spotted Dick happening anytime soon...

At least until the current US administration has changed.

Speaking of...

In other news, the Parti Québécois has won the Quebec provincial election and stated, as part of its platform, that it will hold a referendum on whether Quebec should separate from Canada.

Which isn’t great news.

But they also said they wouldn’t hold a referendum to separate until US President Trump is gone...

And it’s not raining...

And Mercury isn’t in retrograde...

And once they’ve finished watching the new Traitors Canada.

Unless there’s a new season after that.

Then, I mean, who doesn’t want to see what Karine’s going to wear next??

...

But they’re totally going to do it after that.

Because they don’t need Canada!

C’est pas une phase, Maman!

All kidding aside...

I hope Quebec never leaves Canada.

Mainly because it freaks the Americans out.

We’ve got a show!
