Well put. My favourite person to blame for this whole mess is Queen Victoria. It was during her reign that kids were scooped from the streets of London to be transported to servitude in Canada and Australia. Kids and kids of the poor and disenfranchised were and are easy game for the wealthy elite. Scoop ‘‘em up and turn them into proper British citizens. At least get them off the streets where they make us look bad . Let there be no oversight of their treatment. We need this day to think of our treatment of aboriginal children . It was a vile extension of the ongoing treatment of the poor and disenfranchised.
You may just be making a historical point but I always get a bit queasy when I read anything that smacks of “but us whites had it rough too”. As for the word “extension” that seems to be quite a reach to imply that a system that wasn’t finally quashed until 1996 was a natural extension of the late 19th century treatment of children. If anything residential schools were more an extension of the absolute brutal murder by First Nations peoples that also had Queen Vicky’s tacit approval if not full blessings.
I agree with you entirely. I certainly did not want to imply that this was any less brutal than it was. The British raj destroyed our indigenous people ,those of Australia, many in India . The list goes on . Sorry if I offended.
Once again....BANG ON !!. How do you keep doing that? Thanks for the nudge
Yep.

As always, common sense. Things that make me go " exactly. That's exactly right" Keep it up ♥♥
