There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in. We get so used to our privileged life that we forget to take joy in the fact that we don’t need to walk five miles and back with a bucket of water on our head so our family can eat.
Every time I complain about travel, I think about my grandmother spending three weeks on a boat from Riga, Latvia to Quebec City on her way to America. (At least, that’s how my mother told it.) That makes pretty much any travel day a breeze.
Crap in this context is kind of like the term weed. A weed being a perfectly, perfect little plant that happens to be growing somewhere we don’t approve of. Sometimes we can get over our disapproval and learn to love our dandelions, sometimes they gotta go. Your crap, life’s crap, is all part of the weave. The trick is to expand our hearts and love it all. The good and the bad, the inconvenient. Make room for it, repurpose, move it, and occasionally pull it out. Your words carry wisdom sir, cause they carry love.
Man, I LOVE this!
